Labor Day Weekend Furniture Sale - Home Sleep Home - Mesa, AZ

Home Sleep Home is a family owned and operated furniture store in Supersition Springs Mall (where Mervyns use to be)

  • Great customer service
  • Great knowledge of products
  • Gave me a great deal
  • I will return!
I went to Home Sleep Home looking for a new mattress - mine is older than my oldest child - NOT GOOD!

I tried 7 or 8 of them including 1 ORGANIC

The salesperson asked tons of questions to match the perfect mattress to my needs & wants

I finally narrowed my search to 3 mattresses - 2 Sealys (1 foam 1 latex) & a Stearns & Foster

They asked me to lie down a minimum of 15 minutes on each mattress to make sure it gave me the comfort and support I wanted - I learned that it takes about 30 days to get used to a new mattress.

They have a washable mattress protector that prevents moisture, dust & dander from getting to mattress. If you don't use this special kind of mattress protector, your mattress can double in weight every 8- 10 yr. YUCK!  Also, not using a mattress protector can void the warranty if an adjuster sees stains on the mattress. Interesting, huh?

I was at Home Sleep Home days before the Labor Day weekend - yet, they offered to me the Labor Day sale price.  I liked that!

Although the store is called Home Sleep Home, they also have a lot of other furniture.  And, I saw several pieces that I really liked - I'll be back!

Paragon Cycling - Your Bike Shop - Helpful Helmet Information

WHEN PARAGON CYCLING SELLS A BICYCLE, they always ask whether you have a good helmet, too. Why? Because they know that head protection is the most important safeguard when cycling. In fact, according to the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute, if they'd been wearing helmets, 90 percent of bicyclists who were seriously injured or died in accidents in recent years would have survived with treatable injuries.

The thing that makes helmets so important is how high your head is above the ground when you're riding. That's a long way to fall and quite an impact if you strike your head. Fortunately, all of Paragon's helmets offer outstanding protection. They're even tested by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to ensure that they'll do their job.

Go to Paragon Cycling's website for helpful information and many guidelines about how to choose the correct helmet.  Paragon Cycling

The History of The Wright House - The Wright House Garden Reception Centre - Mesa, AZ

The History of The Wright House

Whether as a family home or wedding site, The Wright House has always been a place of warmth, beauty and entertainment.

Every home has a soul, made up of brick and mortar and the memories lived there. The soul of The Wright House was born in the 1930’s as a farmhouse outside the young city of Mesa, Arizona. It had its own well for water, and a white picket fence fronted a dirt road that ran into Tempe where the old Hayden Flour Mill was in full operation.

In the 1930’s the home was purchased by Lorenzo & Teresa Wright. Lorenzo and his son, Harold, started a grocery business in Mesa that operated for 50 years.

In 1945, Harold and his wife, Leah, bought the house from Lo & Teresa. They remodeled, adding some rooms, and Leah planted many flowers and some of the trees and shrubs that still remain.

Harold and Leah raised four children, creating many happy memories. In the early days, they often invited guests to ride horses on the twenty acres behind the house, cooked steaks & entertained dignitaries traveling through Mesa.

Harold’s son, Michael, and his wife, Peggy, developed the home into The Wright House, Garden Reception Centre in July of 1991. Since then they have been working to continuously improve the property and make it into an ideal setting for weddings, receptions, and all other special events.

The soul of The Wright House has always been one of peace, beauty, and entertainment. We hope that you and your guests will enjoy the special spirit that dwells here.

Mesa CPA's - Chaffee Traasdahl Company, CPA's

Does a dependent child have to file a tax return?
A question came in yesterday concerning when a dependent child must file a tax return. The short simplified answer is that if their income is over $400 reported on a 1099, or over $5,700 reported on a W-2, or if they had income tax withheld for which they want to claim a refund then they are required to file a return.

Matta Family History Part Two

Chris Matta continues to tell about Matta Family history.  You will find Part One at Matta Family History Part One
Well let's see, since we last talked I had a chance to visit with my Aunt Gloria. Gloria is Manuel and Mary Lou's (my grandparents) eldest daughter. It turns out that one of the main reasons for the move out of Los Angeles was Mary Lou's asthma (I guess they didn't know about Valley Fever yet). Actually that was a pretty common doctor recommendation in those days---due to the dry climate.

Another thing Aunt Gloria shared with me was a wonderful picture of a very young Matta family taken in the spring of 1950 just before they left for their Arizona adventure. Pictured is Manuel (32 years old), Mary Lou (?? years old), Gloria (?? years old) and little David (5). ????? like I'm going to give up my grandmother's and my favorite aunt's age. I'd get my Matta card revoked for that. Just ask the much younger than me, Aunt Lisa, she'll tell ya all about it. One thing I've never been able to figure out is how her twin brother Louie is older than me. Hmmmm?? By the way, all my Aunties are my favorite ;o) (just in case Lisa reads this). Let's just say Gloria is older than David and Mary Lou's got both kids beat :0). I know I'm dropping names like flies in a bug zapper. The only of my dad's siblings I haven't mentioned is Robert but that's getting way ahead of myself. We'll talk about them later after they've been born. They're not going anywhere. Besides we haven't even opened the restaurant yet.

Next time I'll talk about their move back to Pecos, Texas to learn the restaurant business from Manuel's younger brother, Ben. Yeah, I know, they moved again! Don't worry, they will come back to Mesa and plant roots and open Matta’s, a Mesa tradition that continues to this day.

Don't forget to "like" Matta's Mexican Grill on FACEBOOK and check in on FOUR SQUARE using you smart phone. Each time you do check in you'll receive a free soda with any food purchase and the Mayor will receive a free appetizer (one per month. Offers not valid at the Riverview location)
